Ocean Explore

In kindergarten enrichment classes this week we began to introduce our first biome theme to our exploratory centers.  For the month of November we will be including centers about the ocean in our weekly explore time.  We began our discussion reading the book Swimmy by Leo Lionni. The great illustrations inspired us to think about all of the things we know and want to learn about the ocean.  Each class made a long list of ocean animals and topics they want to know more about!

We also had a few new centers to support our thinking about his topic, including:  ocean creatures on a world map, touch and feel real ocean objects (the starfish and shark teeth were the favorites!), ocean stencils and more.  By sharing ideas for centers that support a learning theme, I hope to inspire students to design their own great centers that reflect their interests and passions.

If you are interested in visiting our class..we would love to have you!  Do you have a special connection to the ocean, or just want to connect with students in our exploratory environment?  Please contact me to set up a visit!
