Hemispheres and Maps

In third grade this week students continued teaching lessons from the National Geographic series. We had a great lesson on hemispheres. Students created globes with two paper plates and then asked their peers to draw the continents and oceans in the correct hemispheres! I will be hanging these in the room to display their work!

In another class students challenged the class to label a United States blank map. After students had a chance to try it on their own, we worked as a group to try to label it together. I liked how the students set up a plan in which individual work and group work was valued!

In the other third grade class we played bingo on a board with North and South American countries. Students also included a game which they had learned in Spanish class as the final challenge to win bingo!
